4)
Duplicate the Light Source 1 layer
and name this new copy "LIGHT SOURCE 2".
Invert selection again. (The semi-circle should be selected now).
Now Flip the contents of the selected area horizontally and apply the spherize filter with these settings:
    • horizontal mode at 100%.

Deselect.

Drag this layer below the Light Source 1 layer.
Set this layer on -Lighten- mode, 100% opacity.

5)
Activate the Surface 2 layer by clicking on it, and then Duplicate this layer.
Name this new copy "LIGHT SOURCE 3", and set it on -Hard Light- mode, 100% opacity.
Using the Move tool and the arrow keys nudge this layer up 4 pixels.
Load this layer's transparency.
Pick the gradient tool and make sure your colours are set to:

    • foreground white / background black

Start the gradient tool just outside of where the lens flare is on the top left side of the dome.
Drag the tool down in a diagonal direction 2/3 of the way towards the bottom right and stop at the base of the dome.
Then, apply the Noise filter with these settings:

    • Amount 3, uniform / monochrome

Contract the selection by 1 pixel, feather it by 2 pixels, invert the selection and delete.

6)
Duplicate the Light Source 3 layer and name it "LIGHT SOURCE 4".
Set this layer on -Lighten- mode, 100% opacity.
Invert your selection again and with the selection still showing, flip the selected area horizontally and then deselect.
Now use the Move tool and arrow keys again to nudge this layer down 4 pixels and right 2 pixels.

Now we're going to make the Dome look more transparent.
Grab the Light Source 4 layer and drag it down to the bottom of the layers palette just above the Background layer.
Now grab the Light Source 3 layer and drag it to the bottom of the layers palette and drop it just above the Light Source 4 layer.

Now your Dome should appear to be more transparent. Right?

Let's double check the order our layers are in.
Starting from the Top most layer in the layers palette our layer names should be in this order: when you look at this menu pretend you are looking at your layers palette.

Light Source 1
Light Source 2
Surface 2
Surface 1
Light Source 3
Light Source 4
Background

If you're looking at your layers palette and your layer names are not in this exact order, then drag your layers up or down to put them in the proper order shown here.
